Italian Sausage Penne Pasta
This time, I am sharing Italian sausage penne pasta recipe since I am craving for another pasta meal again. I was thinking to make the classic spaghetti with meatball, but I do not have most of the ingredients. Thus, I just ‘whipped-out’ and made with whatever I have in my pantry and fridge. Voila, the Italian sausage penne pasta is created. It tastes excellent and is creamy but not overwhelmingly ‘heavy’ that I can still enjoy without feeling guilty. It is easy to make and super duper fast. Oh, another added bonus, it is a big hit at dinnertime. So definitely, this recipe is a keeper.
Tip: For this recipe, if you add too much salt to the pasta when you boil them, you can reduce the saltiness by adding some milk to the dish.
Ingredients:
- ¾ lbs of penne pasta
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 chopped medium-sized onion
- 3 links of Italian mild sausage, remove the ‘wrap’
- 1 jar Alfredo sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- A pinch of salt
- 1 cup chopped fresh basil
Directions:
- Bring water to boil in a pot. Add a pinch of salt and cook the penne pasta until it is soft – usually about 10-12 minutes (depending on how soft you would like the pasta to be)
- Simultaneously, heat oil in the pan. Once heated, put in garlic and onion. Cook until it’s a bit fragrant, then add the sausage to the pan until it is cooked
- Add Alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, and stir well.
- Drain the cooked penne pasta, add them to the pan and add the chopped basil
- Stir well and the pasta should be ready in 1-2 minute. Enjoy!
