Angel Hair Pasta with Sausage
It’s been quite a hectic day today. I decided to cook something super simple, quick, and easy, yet, still delicious for the family. Today, I made Angel Hair Pasta with Sausage. I chose angel hair because of its delicate texture and it is a perfect choice if you want to pair it with simple light tomato sauce. The recipe below is quite light, so I can have two servings of it without feeling stuffed, yet satisfied, but you can make it “heavier” by adding more cheese on top of it. I personally like to use Asiago or Parmesan cheese for this one, but any type of cheese will do.
Tips: Adding some salt to boiling water while cooking pasta will add some flavor to the pasta. Also, sometimes, the store-bought tomato sauce can be quite sour, you can “tame” it down by adding ketchup/sugar to reduce the sourness.
Ingredients:
- 2/3 pack angel hair pasta (12 oz pack)
- 1/2 bottle (10 oz.) tomato sauce
- 4 oz. meat sausage
- 1/2 cup of green peas
- 2 tablespoons of minced garlic
- 1/2 of medium-sized onion
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of ketchup (can be substituted with sugar)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cheese to garnish
Directions:
- Bring water to boil in a pot. Add a pinch of salt and cook the angel hair pasta until it is soft – usually about 3-5 minutes (depends on how soft you would like the pasta to be)
- Simultaneously, heat oil in the pan. Once heated, put in garlic and onion. Cook until it’s a bit brownish
- Add the sausage to the pan until it is cooked
- Add the tomato sauce, ketchup, salt and pepper and stir well.
- When it starts boiling, add the green peas to the pan and wait for another minute.
- Drain the cooked angel hair pasta and place them on the plate/bowl
- Pour the pasta sauce on top of the angel hair pasta
- Sprinkle some cheese on and enjoy!
